India's biggest problem with turning to Electric Cars

India's biggest problems when turning to Electric Cars

Indian government is planning to stop the sale of diesel and petrol vehicles from 2030, but what are India's biggest problems to become all electric on roads. Let's find out

Lack of Options

Lack of options when you go out to buy an EV is the biggest problem India is going to face sooner than later. Tesla clarified that the paper work and formalities are just too much for them to enter the Indian market plus no Tax exemption guaranteed by the Government. Even if big players like Tesla make it to India, Indian middle class will never buy those expensive toys even in their wildest dreams.

No Charging Stations

Let's just consider that everyone in India has replaced their cars with electric ones even then there are problems. You can't always charge your car at home, you need super chargers to charge them real quick and even free if you own a Tesla. In countries like UK there have been start-ups working on charging stations and technology with reducing the charging time very rapidly.

Too expensive cars

Well, if you are a car enthusiast you know electric cars are expensive at first but they pay off with low cost maintenance. But, this won't be easy to explain to an Indian man who has saved all his life to buy a car and is not willing to pay extra. It takes time for mind set to change and a revolution like what happened in the West seems far far away in India for the moment.
